The sustainable fashion movement continues to grow, and that's great news for those of us who care about the environment and still want to look good. It's getting easier to find brands that are committed to using sustainably sourced materials and responsible manufacturing processes. To celebrate Earth Month and show how good greening up your closet can look, we asked celebrity stylist Tara Swennen to build an inspirational outfit.

If you've watched a big-name awards show, chances are you've seen Tara's work. As a Los Angeles-based personal stylist, she helps some of Hollywood's biggest names get ready for the red carpet. We've always loved her looks, and when we learned of her interest in sustainable fashion we were excited to talk with her about it.

Talking with Tara

How did you get connected with Nordstrom?

I have been an avid shopper and have worked closely with Nordstrom throughout my career. I jumped at the opportunity to pair up to do something fun! I want to align myself with innovative brands that encourage a mindset of supporting inclusive companies, selecting eco-friendly materials and championing practices that will lead to a reduced impact from the fashion industry.

Why does sustainability in fashion matter to you?

I want to help support the industry that has been so good to me for decades while helping it reverse the effects it causes to the environment!

How do you see sustainability in fashion evolving and growing?

The fashion industry is beginning to see that aspirational fashion can be made without sacrificing or exploiting the environment. In the future, consumer interest will drive accountability, encouraging companies to focus on their carbon footprint, water, chemical management and social impacts.
