Spring’s in full swing. If the weather didn’t give it away, you’d know by the bright, lighter-weight outfits cropping up these days. Just like the weather, the looks are a little different depending on where you are. So we’re taking you on a quick (virtual) trip to four of our favorite cities to see how the season’s trends are playing out. Let’s go!

New York City

Spring in NYC means chilly mornings and even colder evenings, but mild daytime temps let you show a little leg if you like. The City That Never Sleeps also likes to dress up, and even casual outfits tend to look a little more put together. A structured set like this nails the balance—its proportions are playful, but the overall effect is seriously chic. Finish with classic, comfortable flats and you can save yourself some cab fare.

Chicago takes style cues from both coasts then adds its own distinctive take. The result is an eclectic mix of trend and practical pieces—and this time of year, it’s all about the layers. Winter is well behind us, but a lightweight puffer could still come in handy. Now’s the time to try trends that offer a little more coverage, like long-sleeve blouses and paperbag-waist pants. Add some sunnies and sandals and you’re ready for a day downtown, whatever the weather.

When the grey starts giving way to sunny skies, the Emerald City’s top trend is a great big smile … but you’d better grab that rain jacket, just in case. Seattle keeps things pretty casual when it comes to fashion, focusing on comfort and get-outside-ability over one signature style. Spring temperatures can be cool, so sweaters and long pants are still in play. Neutrals popped with a bit of bold color strike the right note for this laid-back city.

Los Angeles

Considering its connection to Disneyland and Hollywood, it’s no surprise that LA welcomes characters of all kinds. This translates to an “anything goes” attitude when it comes to fashion. And while you might run into spring showers, odds are good the weather will be just about perfect. So you can lean into the fun- and sun-loving styles spring is famous for, like bright, billowy dresses and glam accessories.
