We’re calling it—it’s officially time to say goodbye to winter. So hang up those thick coats and put away the chunky knits, because we’re welcoming spring fashion and all of the great colors, patterns, and styles that come with it. Keep scrolling for three ways to put a fresh spin on your seasonal wardrobe along with tips from our expert stylist, Shannon.
A graphic pattern is not for the faint of heart, but when worn with confidence, can score you some major style points. “A button-down shirt with a bold print is a great way to spice up a simple look,” Shannon says. Just be sure to keep the rest of the outfit subdued to prevent it from becoming too busy. “Twill pants in a neutral color and a relaxed denim jacket complement the shirt in a way that’s just right,” she shares.
Add a pop
If a standout print isn’t your thing, no big deal. “Shake up your neutral outfit with a colorful polo,” Shannon says. We suggest trying an unexpected hue, like a vivid burgundy or a striking shade of blue. The best part about adding a pop of color is that you can stay within your comfort zone or go all out—it all just depends on your mood. As for the rest of the outfit, black denim and sneakers are our go-tos.
Tone it down
When you want to give the loud patterns and bright colors a break, you can still be on-trend in an outfit that’s more subdued. “A checkered sport shirt is a great way to diversify your wardrobe,” Shannon says. The trick here is sticking with muted shades of non-neutral colors and low-key patterns. Balance out the look with light-wash denim, and you’ve got a staple spring outfit.
