The unofficial start of summer is here! Memorial Day weekend. Lots of people use this long weekend as an opportunity to take a quick trip, so today we’re talking about how to pack depending on your destination. Whether you’re headed to the lake or city this MDW, read on for our outfit ideas to kick off summer right.

Lake house vibes

MDW is the perfect excuse to head to the lake and relax. And because comfort is number one on our priority list, we’re talking shorts and tees all weekend. Casual and cute accessories, like a woven bag and round-frame sunnies, are perfect to throw on and wear walking around a little lake town, too. But be sure to bring some lightweight layers for once it cools down at night.

Street chic

City life calls for chic staples you can dress up or down. Take this jumpsuit: cute all on its own, and it only gets better with accessories. Unlike a dress, you won’t have to worry about any wardrobe mishaps if you encounter some unexpected wind. For the daytime, sandals or mules are cute and casual, but for dinner, you can easily swap them out for a pair of block-heel slingbacks. Finish off the look with a cropped jacket, and you’re good to go.

Embrace the outdoors

If you’re going camping, bring something easy to move in. Breathable pieces like linen or cotton T-shirts, denim shorts, and comfortable shoes are great for exploring. One of the most important items to have on your packing list is a backpack with lots of pockets. Make sure it’s big enough to hold at least a wallet, a water bottle, maybe a book, and anything else you might need for a walk outside. And bug spray—don’t forget bug spray.

So whether your Memorial Day Weekend is spent downtown or outside, you’ll know what to wear.
