How to Wear Pantone's Color of the Year
Trunk Club

Living Coral was officially announced as Pantone's 2019 Color of the Year, and it’s giving our favorite winter hue a run for its money. The name alone is putting us in a good mood! Pantone describes it as “animated and life-affirming,” complete with a golden undertone for an extra hint of optimism. The cheery shade is set to inspire an entire year of bright and stylish looks, and if you think we’re already planning our wardrobes for the next 12 months… well, you’re right. Keep scrolling to see how to wear it.

On top:

Soft, cozy knits

Living Coral’s bright, yet soothing tone lends well to cozy sweaters. Test drive it in a button-front cardigan or a classic turtleneck. These silhouettes may be simple, but the color will really make your outfit pop. Bonus tip: This hue—and these tops—will pair perfectly with your favorite go-to blue jeans.

On bottom:

Statement silhouettes

Whether you subscribe to wide or slim pant silhouettes, Living Coral shines in styles that go all the way. That means definitive statement bottoms like ultra-wide leg trousers and fitted skinny jeans. In the spring, try a sophisticated, belted pant with a high waist. It’ll become your favorite workwear piece.

Outer layer:

Stylish, textured jackets

This is not the time to be subtle. Seek out bright statement coats and jackets in classic silhouettes that let the color do the statement-making. Texture brings rich hues to life, so look for pieces in leather and plush fabrics to kick your look up a notch.

Your finishing touch:

Lively accessories

Not ready to commit to head-to-toe coral? You can still add it to your wardrobe in the form of a finishing touch. Thick-framed sunnies, geometric earrings, or strappy pumps always look great in a pop of color. Go a bit bolder with a coral satchel bag or wrap up in a scarf. All of the above will stand out against a base outfit of neutral hues.
