We started the "Getting It Right" series to show how some of our favorite brands go the extra mile to create truly exceptional clothing. For our fifth post in the series, we talked to Paige Geller, the founder of Paige Denim, about the steps her family-run company takes to create the signature Paige fit.
Fit is one of the most important elements of your jeans, which makes sense because you used to be a fit model. Can you walk us through your transition from modeling to being a brand owner?
When I first started modeling I did a lot of print and runway work, but that later turned into fit modeling. So I would try on new styles that designers were working on, and they would check to see how the garment’s fit worked on me. That experience made me very aware of lines, angles, and proportions in clothing design. As I gained more expertise, I went from being a fit model to being more of a design consultant, or a “fit doctor” as I like to say. That’s where I really found my passion. Over time I realized that the denim industry was dominated by men, and I wanted to show them that a woman can make great jeans for men and women too. Paige was born in 2005.
