Some tales are so depraved, so fiendishly diabolical, that even the bravest storytellers can’t bear to speak of them. That’s why authors like Edgar Allan Poe always stuck to relatively safe topics, like hypochondriac estate lords who bury their sisters alive in the walls of family houses. Never did Poe dare to write about the kind of real-life horror that we describe below in grisly detail.
What follows, gentle reader, are three episodes in which cruel fate afflicted Trunk Club men without warning, reason, or mercy. Told by the men themselves, these tales are most certainly ghastly, but they conclude with suggestions that we hope prove beneficial. And now, dear friends, read on—if you dare.
